Polestar O2 Concept

Polestar O₂ (2022)

Volvo’s Polestar brand is continuing to create its electric vehicle line. The Polestar 2 is already in production, with the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 on the way, and the previously revealed Precept concept is expected to become the Polestar 5 by 2024. And now a new Polestar O₂ concept, a luxury electric convertible has been unveiled.

“Polestar O₂ is our concept for a new era in sports cars,” says the company. “It brings up a new blend of driving feelings by combining driving enjoyment, open-top, and the purity of electric mobility” Polestar Chief Design Officer Maximilian Missoni explained.

The Polestar O₂ is said to be based on the same aluminum framework as the Polestar 5 concept, indicating a high level of versatility and adaptability to diverse applications. The Polestar O₂ will be a more compact 2-door sports vehicle, while the Polestar 5 will be a powerful 4-door Grand Touring car.

The Polestar O₂ has yet to get any detailed specifications from the business. The Polestar O₂’s aerodynamic performance is improved greatly by “hidden design features, such as integrated air ducts that promote laminar airflow over the wheels and sides of the body, and taillights that work as air vanes to reduce turbulence behind the car,” according to the report. The interior is made out of trendy and environmentally friendly elements, including recycled polyester.

A built-in drone that can take off behind the electric car and film footage with the driver is one of the automobile’s most remarkable features. The drone can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h, and the footage it captures may be transmitted through the car’s infotainment system. It’s still unclear when the Polestar O₂ version will be ready for commercial production.
