BMW 2200 TI Garmisch (Bertone) (1970)

BMW needed to freshen up the design of their “middle class”, and Bertone set to work. A prototype was created on the chassis of the BMW 2200 TI in 1970, called the BMW 2200Ti Garmisch. As a result, shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970, this four-seat sedan opened a “fresh stream”, no less, in all Italian car design. Designer Marcello Gandini managed to achieve a very close interplay of practicality and beauty, and after some minor tweaks, Garmish ushered in a new era in BMW – the first design of BMW’s fifth series – the E12.

Subsequently, this concept car was lost and recreated again in 2019.
