Nagare means “movement” in Japanese. It is in everything: in the dynamics of the form, the pattern of rims, the pattern on the sidewall.
Mazda owes its revival mainly to the 3 and 6 series models. Among the components of success is an expressive design, which is also accepted by the recent debutants of the brand. Will Mazda be able to keep styling as one of its strengths in the longer term? The answer to this question is given by the Nagare concept, presented in December at the auto show in Los Angeles. Nature’s fluid movement, the play of light and shadow is the key to understanding the style that Mazda will follow in the next 15 years. Nagare (“flow” in Japanese) gives an idea of the brand’s new design language from Hiroshima in a first approximation.
